WHOIS Lookup
Find the registrar, expiry date, status and name servers of any domain, or the network owner of any IP address. No ads, no signup.
About this WHOIS lookup
Every domain name is registered through a registrar, and every block of IP addresses is allocated by a regional internet registry. This tool reads those public records so you can see who a domain is registered with, when it expires, and what state it is in. Lost track of where a domain lives? Here is how to find your registrar, and what happens if it expires.
What you can look up
- Domain registrar: the company to log in to for renewals, transfers and DNS.
- Expiry date: with a countdown and warnings for expired or suspended domains.
- Domain status: transfer locks, holds, redemption and pending delete explained in plain English.
- Name servers and DNSSEC: where the domain's DNS is hosted. Check them with the DNS checker.
- IP address owner: the organization, IP range and abuse contact for any public IP.
Frequently asked questions
What is a WHOIS lookup?
A WHOIS lookup shows the public registration record for a domain name or IP address: who registered it through (the registrar), when it was registered, when it expires, its status and its name servers.
How do I find out who my domain registrar is?
Enter your domain above. The Registrar line shows the company the domain is registered with, plus its website and abuse contact. Log in there to renew or recover the domain.
Why is the owner's name hidden?
Since GDPR, registries and registrars redact personal details of owners by default. You will normally see the registrar, dates and name servers but not the owner's name or email.
How do I look up who owns an IP address?
Enter the IP address. The result shows the organization the network is allocated to (usually an internet provider or hosting company), its IP range and an abuse contact.
What is the difference between WHOIS and RDAP?
RDAP is the modern, structured replacement for the old WHOIS protocol. This tool uses RDAP where available and falls back to classic WHOIS for domain endings that do not support RDAP yet.
Can I check when a domain expires?
Yes. The Expires line shows the date and days remaining, with warnings when a domain has expired or is in its redemption period.
