How to find your IP address on Android

Android shows your local Wi-Fi address in Settings, but your public IP, the one websites see, needs a quick lookup.

Public IP address on Android (fastest)

  1. Open Chrome or any browser.
  2. Visit iphere.org.
  3. Your public IP appears at the top, ready to copy.

Local Wi-Fi IP address

Menus vary slightly by manufacturer, but the path is usually:

  1. Open Settings → Network & internet → Wi-Fi (Samsung: Connections → Wi-Fi).
  2. Tap the gear icon beside your connected network.
  3. Look for IP address, or tap Advanced or View more.

That local address is private and typically begins with 192.168. or 10.. Learn more in public vs private IP addresses.

Check IPv4 vs IPv6

Mobile networks frequently use IPv6. If the checker shows an address with colons, your connection is IPv6. See IPv4 vs IPv6 for what that means.

Using Private DNS or a VPN

Android's Private DNS setting (DNS over TLS) only encrypts your DNS lookups; it does not change your IP address. A VPN app does change your public IP. You can confirm either by reloading the checker.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my Android show two different IPs?

One is the private Wi-Fi address from your router; the other is the public address websites see. They are different on purpose.

Can I find my IP without internet?

Only the local address, in Wi-Fi settings. Your public address needs a connection to a service like this one.
